ARC Living Master™, and author of the book ‘Advanced Techniques and Concepts from the renaissance to the present’, Virgil Elliott will be teaching a two months course centered around the Painting and studio techniques of the Old Masters.

Painting Techniques of the Old Flemish Masters.
September 1 -September 30, 2012

The course will be an intensive examination of the painting methods and techniques of the Flemish Old masters as practiced by Hubert and Jan van Eyck, Rogier van der Weyden, Hams Memling, Hans Holbein the Younger, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, and Quentin Metsys.  This is not a workshop to make a copy of the master’s work but a unique opportunity to study their painting practices and immediately apply this to your own work, painting and drawing from the nude or draped model.  There will also be opportunities to visit the museums and study these paintings first hand.  When possible, arrangements can be made for students who feel up to it to use their time and go and make a direct copy at the museum.
