Beyond Realism in Oil Portraiture is an immersive 4 weeks long oil painting workshop, in Brugge, Belgium. This program introduces students to oil portrait painting from life, as well as learning to idealize the form using classical proportion to add artistic power to the final work.
The first part focuses on the preparatory drawing that will be used as a cartoon for the oil painting; Thereafter, the students will learn a three layer process, starting from dead coloring onto first and second painting, bringing the portrait to a finish.
Throughout the course students will receive individual and group critiques; in addition they will be able to follow the instructor as he demos the different stages.

Daily instruction : 30 hours each week. Over 120 hours of total instruction.
